Unloading the clutter in your home can be a daunting task. This depends on the amount of clutter that you have collected over the years and number of people. This is the second step in the Q.U.I.C.K. way system to bring order to your home and when selling your house.

It is very important to get the clutter unloaded to bring order to your home and be able to market it for sale in its best condition. This will give you the ability to showcase your best features free from the clutter.

Unloading Strategy

When it comes to unloading the clutter, you may want to think about how to strategize unloading the clutter. First you need to get a group of volunteers, then you need to think about the containers/trucks to help you unload by destination goals . Let me explain what I mean by having a strategy for unloading the clutter.

When I had to move my Mom and Dad from Arizona to Florida, I had to empty a large storage shed. There was stuff that my parents had moved numerous times over the years from state to state that I had to deal with. My mother was able to get volunteers set up who had trucks before I arrived in AZ.

The Great Unloading

We all met at the storage locker facility in which my Mom and Dad where renting early one Saturday morning. I had the trucks lined up in a row in front of the lockers on the opposite side hoping no one would need to get in the lockers we were blocking. We had about 6 trucks counting in all. I had my Dad’s truck leading the way to follow us when leaving the locker facility.

I had my Dad’s truck and another one to be used for items to keep. The next truck was for items to donate to the local Salvation Army Thrift Store. The last three trucks where for items to throw away to the local dump.

Keep, Donate or Trash

Depending on the amount of clutter you need to get rid of in your home and/or storage shed you need to have containers large or small for keep, donate, and then trash. You may even want to schedule a pick up ahead of time later that next week to have items donating to sit in the corner of your garage or area of a living room.

As for the amount of trash to throw away, call ahead of time to your local city disposal pick up and have them pick up trash that you can set out at the curb. For country folk,  you will have to have a truck carry it to your local dump site or a dumpster truck to carry it off like www.1-800-Got-Junk.com.

Our next article in the Q.U.I.C.K. Way, we will be talking about how to isolate the clutter we have decided to keep.

What area of clutter do you have the most of? Keep, Donate, or Trash?
