I don’t know about you but I have fought the clutter bug for many years. I grew up in a home where my mother struggled with a lot of clutter, beginner level of a horder. Have you seen the Horder show? There is no place to sit or a place to eat. Since then my mother and I have made much progress. What about you or your home? Do you battle with the clutter bug?

The Importance for Decluttering

When it comes to selling your home it’s important to quantify the clutter. This is the first step in Lori Baird’s book, the Q.U.I.C.K. way system. You may be asking, “Why is it so important to declutter?

  1. Visual Appeal: Helps home to look neat and orderly.
  2. Organized: You can find things quickly and easily
  3. Peaceful: An orderly home brings a calm atmosphere
  4. Maintain: Busy lives

Internal Evaluation

Before you begin to quantify your clutter it is important to take an inward look and begin to ask yourself some honest questions.  “Do I really need this? Do I need this much? Will I ever use this or wear that again?”

It is important that the buyers are able to see the features of your home. You don’t want to jeopardize a potential loss of a sale because the buyer could not see the features due to clutter. This is why it is important to quantify the clutter. The next step we will discuss in the Q.U.I.C.K. Way is how to unload the clutter.
