Are You Reliable?

Are You Reliable?-2
Today’s reflections on #50daysto50 is about reliability and support. If you missed any of the previous reflections I have been posting, you can go to wendytwine.com/50daysto50.

As I was reflecting on my day I got to thinking about who can I rely on? Who can I count on if things get tough and who would be there for me if serious stuff was going down. Well to be honest the first thing that came to my mind was my relationship with God. I know he will always be there for me but I’m talking about someone with skin on.

I then got to thinking about friends and family. Would they be there for me? Well I can say my family more than likely would be there for me. I have been blessed to have a husband who loves me and children as well. I don’t take this for granted, as I am always reminded everywhere I turn that there are those who don’t have the support of family or friends. We live in a ME centered generation where if you don’t give me what I want, I’m out of here and I’ll find someone who can grant me my every wish and command.

If that is your thinking, I would advise you to change it very quickly because Proverbs 18:24, talks about one who has unreliable friends will come to ruin. Well if we are hanging with people who don’t display reliability, dependability, loyalty, supportiveness, etc., we are more than likely those same type of people.

Have you heard the saying, “Birds of a feather flock together.” Well, if you want reliability, loyalty and support, then you also have to be that person yourself. Loyalty is very deep in me and I get very upset when I see how the enemy comes in to create self centeredness and disloyalty. Yet we all have been guilty of it to some degree and some form or fashion.[tweetthis]”If you want reliability, loyalty and support, then you also have to be that person yourself.” ~ Wendy Twine[/tweetthis]

There is only one person who will never be disloyal to you or unreliable and that will stick closer to you than a brother, sister, mother, father, husband, wife, daughter, son or friend. What is his name? Jesus Christ is his name. Others have let me down which have been mainly fare weathered friends. These are friends who come and go but I can always count on Jesus being there to comfort me and give me support.

If you are the person who is reliable and have sowed that trait in your relationships but find yourself alone, maybe God is trying to get your attention. Maybe you have but more energy into your friends and family instead of him. Maybe he is cleaning out the toxic relationships in your life so you can become more healthy.

Regardless, Jesus is a friend who will be there when others won’t or can’t for whatever reason. So, let me ask you, do you have a friend that sticks closer than a brother? If so, share below.
